We Attended the Autism Law Summit 2025 in Orlando
6 November, 2025
A couple of weeks ago, our co-founders, Brad Fenton and Sep Niakan, attended the Autism Law Summit 2025 in Orlando, one of the most important gatherings in the country for autism advocacy, law, and care.
Every year, this Summit brings together hundreds of professionals, advocates, and families working together to make sure children on the spectrum get the support they need.
For Sep and Brad, it was an opportunity to learn from the experiences of other providers, hear directly from families about their biggest challenges, and discover new ways Abacus can better serve their clients.
“We wanted to connect with the community, learn from provider colleagues at other practices, and stay current on laws that affect the families we serve,” Sep said.
But what really stuck with our co-founders were the stories.
Families struggling to get their insurance to approve services, kids waiting months for an appointment because there aren’t enough clinicians, and parents fighting just to get their child what they need.
“Hearing those stories truly touched us,” Sep shared. “It reminded us why collaboration matters so deeply in this field, and why we can’t do this work alone.”
The Summit reinforced something that’s already central to Abacus Therapies: staying connected to the bigger picture benefits every family we serve.
Brad and Sep came away with concrete insights that will directly impact our practice, from understanding new insurance intricacies to learning about emerging legal precedents; it was all about getting up to date on the latest regarding autism laws.
The most powerful takeaway?
“There’s a strong, united community of providers across the nation, and so many organizations fighting for the rights of children on the spectrum and their families,” Sep said.
The Autism Law Summit brings together attorneys, providers, insurers, policymakers, and families to discuss how laws and advocacy can work together to improve access to care. Conversations that directly impact kids and their families.
By showing up to these events, Abacus stays ahead of changes that affect every family we serve. New legislation, shifts in insurance policies, emerging legal strategies; these aren’t abstract policy discussions. They’re the difference between a child starting therapy next month versus next year. They determine whether a family faces financial hardship or gets the coverage they’re entitled to.
Understanding laws and policies helps us make sure our kids continue to get the care, coverage, and attention they deserve.
Thank you to the Autism Law Summit team for hosting such an inspiring event, and to the Council of Autism Service Providers for their continued leadership in raising the bar for autism care nationwide.
At Abacus Therapies, we’re proud to be part of a community that believes every child deserves access to care, no matter where they live or what challenges they face.
If you share that vision, we’d love to connect! Contact us or follow our journey as we continue advocating for families and expanding access to ABA services.
